Tonsillectomy Instruments

NANGIA STYLARREST “Nangia Stylarrest” is an instrument designed for minimally invasive intra-oral Styloidectomy, by Dr IP Nangia, who has an experience of more than 350 cases of Styloidectomy, over more than 4 decades. The technique entails Tonsillectomy, followed by localization of the tip of the Styloid process by digital palpation. The tip of the Styloid is then engaged in the ring of the “Nangia Stylarrest” and with an upward and lateral push along the styloid, the elongated Styloid process is arrested into the instrument. The periosteum of the Styloid gets peeled off by the sharp edge of the ring of “Nangia Stylarrest”, thus pushing the muscle and ligament attachments of the Styloid process away from it and preventing them from getting damaged. It is then broken with a wisting motion using a Negus curved artery forceps. It is a quick, safe and effective method of surgical removal of an elongated Styloid process. Since no incision is required to be made over the pharyngeal musculature in this technique, no suturing is required after Styloid removal and the bleeding is minimal.
